Hearing God When It Seems ImpossibleНамуна

Hearing God’s voice can sometimes feel impossible, especially in a world filled with distractions. We often think that God is silent when, in reality, we are simply not positioned to listen. A.W. Tozer once said, “It’s the nature of God to speak.” I believe that the problem is not whether God speaks, but whether we are tuned in to His frequency.
God has the power to speak even when we are not listening. For instance, we see in the Bible that Saul was not searching for Jesus when he encountered Him on the road to Damascus, yet God spoke to him in a way that changed his life forever (Acts 22:6-8). We also see that Balaam was resisting God’s will, yet even a donkey was used to get his attention (Numbers 22:27-31).
Even though God can speak in this manner, do we really want to force God to get our attention through drastic means? Instead of waiting until we hit a crisis, we should position ourselves daily to hear His voice. When we are open to Him and aware of His nearness, He won’t have to shout—He can simply whisper.
A life aligned with God is a life attuned to His voice.
Challenge: Spend five minutes today in complete silence before God—no distractions, no talking, just listening.
Let's Pray:
Father, I know that You are always speaking, but sometimes my heart is too distracted to hear. Help me to quiet the noise around me and within me. Let my heart be sensitive to Your voice so that I don’t need a crisis to hear from You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
