For the Joy: Reignite Your Desire to Serve Like JesusНамуна

Intro
Serving isn’t just something we do—it’s who we are called to be as followers of Christ. At its core, serving is a reflection of Jesus Himself, who came not to be served, but to serve (Matthew 20:28). Yet, serving can sometimes feel tiring, unnoticed, or even burdensome.
Hebrews 12:2 reminds us to fix our eyes on Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith Who served for the joy. When our service flows from a heart captivated by Him, it becomes more than just a tedious task—it becomes joyful worship.
This five-day devotional is designed to help you refocus, renew, and realign your heart with the JOY of serving. Whether you're leading, volunteering, or simply seeking to grow, may these reflections encourage you to serve with endurance, purpose, and love.
Let’s dive in together—eyes fixed on Jesus, hands ready to serve.
Day 1: Looking To Jesus
Hebrews 12:2a
“…looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith…”
The foundation of a sacrificial servant’s heart begins with one simple yet powerful act—looking to Jesus. We become what we behold, which means that if our desire to serve fades, it may be because we’ve taken our eyes off of Him. On the other hand, when our desire to serve deepens, it’s often the fruit of a deeper relationship with God.
Jesus is the ultimate example of service. No act of love in history compares to His. His life, death, and resurrection were marked by obedience to the Father and a complete outpouring of Himself for us. Yet, He didn’t serve reluctantly—He did it out of love. He came not to be served, but to serve (Matthew 20:28). As we serve, the motivation to keep our eyes on Him is in the understanding that what we do isn’t just for others—it’s an offering to Him.
When we are looking to Jesus we will be filled up by Jesus, resulting in an overflow of His grace and goodness in our life that doesn't necessarily make serving easier but definitely makes it lighter.
Avoid burnout by fixing (and keeping) your eyes on Jesus and letting Him fill you up as He perfects your faith.
- Reflection: How fixed are your eyes on the Lord in this current season of life? What distractions do you need to remove, or rhythms do you need to put in place so that you can be filled up by Him daily?
