The Shift: Part 3Намуна

Letting Go of Control
Let’s talk about control. If you’re anything like me, you like knowing exactly how things will turn out. You want to plan every detail, avoid risks, and make sure everything goes your way. But here’s the problem: when we’re in control, we leave no room for God to work.
This verse is a call to trust. “Commit your way to the Lord” literally means to roll your burdens onto Him. It’s like saying, “God, I can’t handle this, so I’m giving it to You.” That doesn’t mean you stop working hard or making wise decisions—it means you stop trying to do it all in your own strength.
When you let go of control, you’re not giving up; you’re giving it to someone infinitely wiser and more powerful. And here’s the promise: “He will act.” God doesn’t just sit back and watch. When you commit your plans to Him, He takes over and brings about His perfect will.
David wrote this psalm during a time of great stress. He had enemies surrounding him and constant challenges to his leadership. Yet he learned to trust God with his battles instead of trying to fight them on his own.
What’s one area of your life where you’re struggling to let go of control? Maybe it’s your career, your finances, or your future. Spend time in prayer today, asking God to take over. Then practice trust by taking one step of obedience without trying to manipulate the outcome.
