Holy Week - Follow the Final Steps of JesusНамуна

Let God finish the story...
Wednesday:
We don’t get a specific teaching from Jesus on Wednesday. Though Luke tells us Jesus taught in the temple every day (Luke 21:37) many theologians believe that Wednesday may have been a day of some teaching, but mostly rest for Jesus. Still, this was not an inactive day. While Jesus rested plots and schemes simmered behind the scenes.
Traditionally called Spy Wednesday, this nickname derived from the stealthy way the chief priests and elders of the Jews conspired against Jesus. “(They) plotted together in order to arrest Jesus by stealth and kill him.” (Matt. 26:4)
Men in the most powerful positions in Israel gathered at the High Priest’s palace. Joining their power and influence together, they not only planned to arrest Jesus and rebuke him for teaching in the temple, but to kill him. Evil lurked behind the scenes. And as the story progressed, it seemed like the evil plotted by these powerful men succeeded.
Isn’t that so often the story of the world? Evil wins, injustice prevails, and the unrighteous prosper. But believing evil wins is like leaving a baseball game in the 8th inning. It’s not the end of the story. The great turnaround is coming. The men that gathered on Wednesday, looked like they won on Friday, but they failed by Sunday.
If there are people behind the scenes waiting for you to fall, plotting out ways to trip you up, and it seems like evil has won in your life, don’t give up yet. Let God finish the story.
