Devotional:

“Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come.” Psalm 71:18

Life is a journey filled with seasons. In our youth, we are full of energy and passion, eager to serve the Lord. As we age, we gain wisdom and experience, having witnessed God’s faithfulness through life’s trials. Psalm 71:18 reminds us that no matter our age, we have a calling—to share God’s power and mighty works with the next generation.

The psalmist’s prayer reflects a deep desire not just to finish life well but to leave a spiritual legacy. The world constantly bombards younger generations with messages that pull them away from God. They need voices of wisdom, mentors who can testify to God’s goodness and truth. Every believer, regardless of age, has a role in passing on faith— whether to children, grandchildren, younger believers, or even coworkers and friends.

God’s power is not just something we read about in Scripture; it is something we experience daily. When we share our testimonies—how God provided, healed, guided, and strengthened us—we inspire faith in others. The next generation needs to hear how God has been faithful through challenges, uncertainties, and blessings.

Even in old age, God has a purpose for us. If we have breath, we have a mission: to glorify Him and make Him known. Our lives should be a testimony that encourages others to trust and follow Him.

Prayer:

Pray for the opportunity and courage to share your faith with the next generation. Ask God to give you wisdom, compassion, and the right words to encourage and strengthen others in their walk with Him.
