Find & Follow Jesus, Quarter 2

DAY 71 OF 91

Devotional:

“Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.” Colossians 4:6

Our words hold incredible power. They can encourage or discourage, heal or hurt, build up or tear down. In Colossians 4:6, Paul reminds us to let our speech be filled with grace and seasoned with salt. This means that as followers of Christ, our conversations should reflect His love, wisdom, and kindness. To speak with grace means responding with patience and understanding, even when we are frustrated or challenged. Grace-filled words come from a heart that knows the grace of God—undeserved yet freely given. Just as we have received God’s mercy, we are called to extend it through our words.

Paul also tells us that our speech should be seasoned with salt. In biblical times, salt preserved and enhanced flavor. Likewise, our words should bring truth, wisdom, and encouragement to those around us. They should not be dull, lifeless, or hurtful, but rather filled with wisdom that points others to Christ.

This verse also challenges us to be thoughtful in how we respond to others. Whether in daily conversations, online interactions, or difficult discussions, we must be mindful of how our words reflect our faith. Before speaking, we should ask ourselves, “Is this gracious? Is it uplifting? Does it reflect Christ’s love?”

When we choose to speak with grace and wisdom, we become a testimony of God’s goodness. Our words can bring peace, healing, and even opportunities to share the gospel with those who need to hear it.

Prayer:

Ask God to help you speak with grace in all situations. Pray for wisdom in your conversations, that your words would reflect Christ’s love and draw others closer to Him.

About this Plan

Find & Follow Jesus, Quarter 2

Follow our quarterly plans to read through the entire Bible in one year, plus a bonus round through the Gospels and Romans. Each day, we encourage you to read the sections from both the Old Testament and the New Testament, and then set aside some time to write down, journal, or memorize the first posted verse from each day. Every week we provide an additional devotional for further discussion on that week's themes.
