All Aspects of Forgiveness

DAY 7 OF 7

Freedom in Forgiveness

Have you ever been wronged so badly that you felt like justice had to be served before you could move on? Maybe you’ve been hurt, betrayed, or treated unfairly—and everything in you wants to hold onto that pain. But here’s the truth: Holding onto unforgiveness doesn’t just keep them in the wrong—it keeps you in chains.

Romans 12:17-19 says:
"Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: 'It is mine to avenge; I will repay,' says the Lord."

That’s a powerful reminder that justice isn’t our job—it’s God’s. When we try to hold onto resentment or seek revenge, we’re carrying a burden we were never meant to bear. But when we forgive, we step into the freedom that God has for us.

Forgiveness doesn’t mean what happened was okay. It doesn’t mean we let people walk all over us. But it does mean we trust God with the outcome. We let go, knowing He sees, He knows, and He will bring justice in His perfect way and time.

Maybe today, there’s someone you need to release. Maybe you need to let go of the weight of carrying that offense. Not because they deserve it, but because you deserve to walk in freedom.

Forgiveness isn’t just a gift you give to others—it’s the key that unlocks your freedom. Will you step into it today?
