The Breath of LentНамуна

“We rise by lifting others” is a phrase that denotes service in the highest order. When we look beyond ourselves and to the needs of others, especially those considered lesser in the eyes of society, that is identifying with the power and purpose of Jesus.
The night before His crucifixion on the cross, Jesus was working to impress this message upon His disciples. As His death was looming, the disciples argued who was more accomplished and deserving of the greatest recognition. Jesus not only underscored the importance of servanthood, but He also personified it.
At the Last Supper, Jesus shared the extent of His servanthood as He lifted the cup; He explained that it represented His blood to be shed, and as He broke the bread, it was clear that His flesh would be torn—all of this in service for the rising of His fellow man.
May you identify with the Servant Lord today in the following breath prayer:
Inhale: Help me, Servant Lord,
Exhale: to be a humble servant like you.
