Ten Minutes With God for WomenНамуна

Seen and Known
You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways.
Psalm 139:1-3
During a season of depression, it occurred to me that I was getting tired of my own sad, bad story. Each time I repeated it, I felt another stab to the heart. One afternoon as I was reading Psalm 139, a new thought occurred to me. God knew my story. He knew details that I didn’t even understand. He had been with me every step of the way. Not only did He know the current hurt that brought me face-to-face with a counselor, but He knew my full story and the wounding that ultimately made me act and react the way I do. I sighed with relief that afternoon and began to trust the process of healing with a God who understands me completely.
The word familiar means one who is well acquainted with something. I found hope in connecting that truth to the dots in my life. God was well acquainted with everything about me, all the things that triggered me, my childhood trauma, and my adult hurts and hang-ups. He has been with me through it all. Maybe you need to know that you are seen and known today. Even if people have hurt or disappointed you, God sees, and He knows. And because He completely gets you, He knows exactly what you need to move forward.
Today I will remember:
- God knows me.
- He knows my thoughts, even the thoughts that drift in and out
- He is intimately acquainted with me and my history.
Father, You know everything about me—the stories, the hurts, and the happy times. You know what triggers me and what makes me tick. Because You know me fully, I now trust You completely.
