The Way to Follow Jesus According to the Gospel of LukeНамуна

Day 5 - Luke 5
Leaving it All Behind
“… they left everything and followed Jesus” - Luke 5:11.
That was the impulsive decision made by Peter, James and John, the fishermen who in a moment’s time left it all to join Jesus. They had heard the stories. They saw the crowds. They listened to His teaching. They witnessed the miracle of Jesus filling their nets with so many fish, they started to break.
Wouldn’t you expect that rather than leave their prospering business, they would instead see this miracle as a sign? A sign that confirms they could be successful fishermen and use their success as a blessing to themselves and others? That their “successful business” could be a “ministry” to help others in need?
But instead, the power and the presence of Jesus compelled them to leave the “things of this world,” with all its short-lived pleasures, to follow Jesus and live for Him and His Kingdom.
Would you do the same, even if you’re not asked to? If compelled purely by love for your Savior and Lord, how far are you willing to go, to follow Him?
