Meditation and Study
When was the last time you intentionally created space to meet with God?
The inward disciplines of meditation and study are essential for spiritual growth. Meditation allows us to pause, reflect, and listen to God. It’s not about emptying our minds but filling them with His truth. Psalm 1:2-3 paints a beautiful picture of this: “Blessed is the one... who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water.”
Meditation helps us tune our hearts to God’s voice. Whether through silence, focusing on scripture, or marveling at creation, this discipline fosters a deeper awareness of His presence.
Study takes us further, reshaping our minds and aligning our thoughts with God’s truth (Romans 12:2). It’s not just about gaining knowledge but allowing scripture to transform our character and guide our decisions. Psalm 119:15-16 encourages us to meditate on God’s precepts and delight in His decrees, showing us how study brings joy and renewal.
Through these inward disciplines, we can experience the peace, clarity, and intimacy that come from dwelling in God’s presence.
In prayer: Spend 10 minutes meditating on a favorite verse, then take time to study its meaning and context.
