Journey With Jesus 365Намуна

What is God’s purpose for the sabbath?
The sabbath was a day set aside for rest. Jesus did things on the sabbath that flew in the face of the Pharisees' teachings about the sabbath. The Pharisees elevated the sabbath so much that they thought it determined if a person was accepted by God. They created numerous laws for the sabbath that were not from God. Jesus picked food and healed a man on the sabbath. While this violated their man-made laws about the sabbath, Jesus did not violate God’s law regarding the sabbath. God's purpose for the sabbath is to find rest for our souls, minds, and bodies by worshipping God.
How does God give rest when we set aside the first day of the week to worship Him? What do you need to say no to in order to say yes to God regarding the sabbath?
