A Year in Luke/ActsНамуна

When Paul, Barnabas, and John Mark reach the town of Paphos, the capital of Cyprus, they are invited by the governor Sergius Paulus to come visit him, "for he wanted to hear the word of God." (v7) But a sorcerer and false prophet named Bar-Jesus, whose name means "son of the savior," urges the governor to ignore what the men say. But Paul, fueled by the Holy Spirit, sees through Bar-Jesus' deceit, turns his own name against him, and calls him a "son of the devil" (v10) Paul continues to rebuke the sorcerer and the Lord's judgment comes when Bar-Jesus is blinded. And "When the governor saw what had happened, he became a believer" (v12)
God's power, gifted to us through the Holy Spirit, always prevails over the dark and deceitful forces that oppose it!
