Jesus moves into teaching a parable that is clearly a mirror of the Israel people, their leaders, and how they have turned away from God. Israel is often referred to as the vine in the Old Testament which makes the vine dressers the religious leaders entrusted with the vineyard’s health and wellbeing.
We can see God’s patience displayed, as he continuously attempts to get to his people while being blocked by the religious leaders. This parable also shows us a picture of God's character - that he values his people, is more patient than we could imagine, and will also set things right in his timing.
