How to Keep a Peaceful Conscience?Намуна

Some profess to believe in Christ and His gospel but have neither peace nor comfort. In fact, they may be more troubled than unbelievers themselves. Why is that? Sin has returned to its old home! Eternal treasures and spiritual prosperity, such as peace and harmony, do not remain in a house where God is no longer welcome: “If the home is deserving, let your peace rest on it; if it is not, let your peace return to you…”, Matthew 10:13 (NIV). God promises peace: “… The Lord blesses his people with peace”, Psalm 29:11 (NIV). But He also clarifies the condition: “… He grants… peace to his faithful people…” Psalm 85:8 (NLT).
In short, the blessing of peace is received by faith, but it is maintained through obedience. “May God’s peace and mercy be upon all who live by this principle…” Galatians 6:16 (NLT). What principle is that? Obedience. It is not enough for someone to be a new creature; they must walk according to the principle of obedience. It is biblically certain that He, who commands us “to stay away from any brother who is living a disorderly life…” (2 Thessalonians 3:6, GNT), will withhold His comfort from the disobedient. As soon as we stray from His holy path, the Spirit withdraws His comfort.
