The Kid: An Advent Devotional for High SchoolersНамуна

We all look forward to Christmas break. The time off school, the gingerbread houses, the Christmas lights, the inflatable snow globes in front yards—it’s all fun stuff, right? While that time to rest and play is great, it does mean we get less time with friends for a few weeks. Instead of seeing them every day at school, we’re home alone with our families or guardians. Even if we love it, it still means there’s a chance loneliness can creep in.
That’s when it’s important to remember that we’re never truly alone. Jesus was called "Immanuel," meaning "God with us." It’s a powerful reminder that Jesus came to Earth to show God is always with us. Even when we feel lonely, He is by our side. His love, comfort, protection, and guidance are always available. Jesus gives us hope and light amid darkness and reminds us that we do not need to be afraid.
Today, write down the meaning of Immanuel somewhere you will see it often. Know that Jesus loves you deeply and will never leave you.
