Week 5 | Abiding In Him
Day One
Spend some time in prayer before you begin. Ask God to help you abide in Him during this study.
- Read John 15:1-17 again but this time try reading it in a different version than you did before, look up the definitions of words you don’t know, summarize what the passage is saying in your own words.
- Do some research, read a commentary on this passage (The Bible Project is a good source) or watch a sermon on this passage. What did you learn from what God has revealed to others through this passage?
- Do you think this passage teaches us about God’s creation, man’s sin, God’s redemption of man, or God’s restoration of man to Himself? It can be more than one. Why is it important to think about this?
- How does knowing the Father is the gardener and Jesus is the vine change how you view them? How does thinking of yourself as a branch change how you view yourself?
- Are you a branch that is bearing fruit? If not, what do you need to change to begin bearing fruit?
- What happens to us if we do not remain in Jesus? Why?
- Spend some time in prayer as you close, reflect on remaining in God’s love. Ask Jesus to be your friend.
