Devotions on F.I.R.E. Year OneНамуна

For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s (1 Corinthians 6:20).
Do you live as if the Holy Spirit dwells within you?
Perhaps the Corinthians adopted the following slogan to justify their immorality: “Foods for the stomach and the stomach for foods” (1 Corinthians 6:13). Were they suggesting because God made food to satisfy hunger, He similarly permits sexual passion in any context to be fulfilled? The Corinthians were aware of the temple of Aphrodite, which houses one thousand temple prostitutes. Some of them perhaps frequented the temple during their former pagan practices. Paul explains that we are to lead pure lives because God’s Spirit is housed in the temple of our physical bodies (1 Corinthians 6:19). Therefore, we are to bring glory to God by appropriately using our temple. His residence within us is costly, accomplished through Jesus’ death.
Employment Point: Glorify God through holy living.
About this Plan

Devotions on F.I.R.E. journeys through the Bible in one year. Each day includes a devotion based on Dr. Burge’s F.I.R.E. method of Bible Study. F.I.R.E. stands for Familiarity, Interpretation, Relationship, and Employment. The F.I.R.E. method and the daily devotions helps readers remember and apply what they read as they fuel the fire in their hearts for God’s Word.
