Pause: A Month of Joy in Five Minutes a DayНамуна

Proclaim
“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.” (Phil. 4:4-5)
Prompt
Joy is a gift.
The thing about a gift is that it’s something you have to be given. I mean, I guess you can give yourself a gift, which is, of course, something I’ve done on occasion (like when I treat myself to that extra breakfast scone).
But real gifts come from someone as a thoughtful expression that aims to bring joy to someone’s life. But a gift MUST BE RECEIVED. Otherwise it just sits and collects dust, never reaching its full intended purpose.
Joy is a gift and it’s something we must choose. Remember, it’s on the menu because God put it there. He wants you to choose this gift and get the benefits of all its intentions. So don’t put it off, don’t ignore it, don’t let it collect dust.
Unwrap this gift of joy that God wants to give you today!
Prod
Treat yourself to a little gift today, and when you do, reflect on the gift of joy God has given you.
Praise

Pray
Jesus, thank you for the gift of joy. Help me to treasure it always. Amen.

About this Plan

Depression. Loneliness. Comparison. Greed. Addiction. People-pleasing. These are tools of the enemy to steal your calling and rob your joy. In this reading plan, drawn from his book, Lance Lang invites you to neutralize those tools by taking a pause each day, studying scripture, reading encouragement, taking action, and refocusing your attention on Jesus. Press forward into what God has for you. Press pause.
