War and Peace
In today's verses, we will analyze the relationship between war and peace. The book of Judges says that Gideon built an altar to God, and gave it the name Jehovah Shalom, which was translated as “The Lord is Peace.” Desiring peace, to this day, is a common greeting between Jews and Christians. However, many times in the Bible, God presents Himself with the name Jehovah Sabaot, which has been translated as “Lord of Hosts.”
Sin has brought incoherence into the world. We all desire peace, but our lives are battles. Let us ask God for his advice for us on when we should seek peace, and when we should fight.
