8 Keys to Sharing Genuine Appreciation at WorkНамуна

Showing Devotion to Brotherly Love
Believers should be devoted to showing genuine love to one another, especially other Christians. But sometimes we withhold our love. Sometimes we only show preference to those who show preference to us after we’ve been convinced of their love for us.
In Romans 12:10, the writer admonishes Christ-followers to show brotherly love and to outdo one another in showing honor. Another way this can be said is to outdo one another in serving one another. This might look like going out of our way to be inconvenienced by the needs of others.
It seems strange to say, but the Bible tells us to consider one another more significant than ourselves (Philippians 2:3). If all Christians operated under this model, everyone would feel loved and genuinely appreciated.
The word associated with brotherly love in this passage can also be translated to mean love of brothers or sisters. We are all children of God and co-heirs with Christ, so this should be easy for us to do. However, it’s not always easy and that’s okay.
If we’re honest about how difficult loving others can be at times, God is able to help us to see others the way he sees them and to love them like we would love our own natural siblings. No matter how we feel, let's honor everyone and love them, expecting nothing in return (Luke 6:35). Through our honest devotion to brotherly love, God’s love is shown.
Ask yourself how you can show a devotion to brotherly love and make a plan to put action in place today.

About this Plan

We are all God’s children, and therefore, brothers and sisters. Believers show their love to one another differently and these attributes are a marked contrast compared to people who live by the culture of the world. This eight-day plan explores how Christ-followers show genuine appreciation for others through Romans 12:9–15.
