One of the keywords in the book of Mark is "amazed." You will find this word repeated over and over throughout the book. (e.g. 1:22, 27; 2:12) Remember that repetition in the text is often an author's way of making the main points clear. Mark seems to be making the point that people everywhere were amazed by Jesus. Ask yourself the questions today: Do I find Jesus amazing when I read about his life? What has Jesus done in my life that is amazing?
