This verse is found in the first half of the Bible before Jesus was born, but later, when Jesus began preaching and teaching, He quoted this verse as a way to kickstart His ministry. Why this verse? Because it captured why Jesus came—to bring good news to everyone. As followers of Jesus, Jesus’ mission is also ours. We, too, have a message we bring in the words we say, the things we do, and the way we interact with and love people. All of those things make up the message of our lives. The question is, does that message match this one from Isaiah? Is it good news for all people?
