Daybreak
Honest question: When you wake up each morning, what’s your first thought? Are you concerned with waking up to go to the gym or getting the kids breakfast? Maybe you slept through your alarm, and now you’re in a rush to get to work on time.
Or maybe, like David in Psalm 118:24, your first thoughts are centered around God and thankfulness for all He has in store for you for the coming day. This verse was the inspiration for "Daybreak." It’s hard not to feel joyful when you listen to the song - try it! You can’t listen to ‘Daybreak’ and still feel grumpy by the end of it.
David knew the importance of starting his day right—with rejoicing and gratitude. The Good News is good news for a reason—God has saved us! Each new day we wake up is a new day full of God’s saving grace, His mercy, His blessings, and His love.
When you start your day with intention by setting your mind on the good things that God has done, you’ll start to build a rhythm of gratitude and gladness into your life that will sustain you when times are difficult.
Just like the old Sunday School song goes, “This is the day that the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it.” Let the simplicity and beauty of this verse become the alarm clock for your soul every morning.
Takeaway challenge: Start your day by taking a moment to reflect on the joy found in Psalm 118. Rejoice! Greet the day with gladness! Sing praise to God for another new day.

About this Plan

The old life has gone, and Genesis marks the new days we now live out. Jesus is our present-day confidence that we have victory over all things. We can now live each day in communion with Christ as originally intended in Eden and bring heaven to earth through God’s power living in us.
