Daily PresenceНамуна

I remember tasting tea for the first time and thinking “this is basically just some dirt soaking in water.” I mean, it’s pretty disgusting. But then something magical happened. I added milk and honey and everything changed. It makes sense, after all, milk and honey are just versions of fat and sugar. I think we can all agree most things are better with some extra fat or sugar! Cake, coffee, donuts…. I digress. It would be hard to convince me to go back to tea without milk and honey now that I’ve tasted the sweet goodness.
The Israelites have a promise from God. A big one. They’ve been living in slavery and are promised a land “flowing” with milk and honey! I can only imagine the good things God had waiting for them. But instead, they grumbled and were unwilling to step forward in obedience. They are close enough to the promise to scout it out but instead of trusting God, they stick with their old ways. They stick with the “dirt soaking in water.”
God has an abundant life full of joy and peace available for us! A life flowing with milk and honey. We’re often standing on the border but unwilling to do what it takes to step inside the promise. Instead, we settle for spending our lives wandering around in the wilderness. I don’t want to be caught wandering. I want to enter into all He has for me.
