1 JohnНамуна

John is talking to people in the Church who are being told from outside sources that there are now new “additions” to the Gospel. John writes this letter to remind them, as he states in the previous verses, that he is reciting an old command, for there are no new commands. Jesus has taught us everything we need to know to live a life of righteousness and living a life that glorifies Him. John here restates what he himself has heard from the very lips of Jesus.
John also wrote the Gospel of John in which he shares what Jesus said directly to them in John 13:35: “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” In a world that is full of division, Jesus seeks to unite. In a world full of hate and deception, Jesus seeks to love others. We often try to overcomplicate the Gospel and look for loopholes in the system, but what you read here is what you get. John calls people back to the simple Gospel message “to love one another.”
