The Advent of JesusНамуна

We are now beginning to look at the arrival, the advent, of the Messiah. Whilst many were expecting a conquering king to overthrow the occupying empire, the King that arrived was born in a manger as a baby in humble circumstances.
It is easy to see how the Messiah might not have been what people expected. This can teach us some valuable lessons about hope; sometimes, what we rely on the Lord for might not look like what we expect. In fact, often, it does not! It is so important to stay close to the Lord and remain in His will.
This week let’s ask ourselves:
- Notice the details - are there any details we can recognize from the prophecies we have read?
- Let’s take time to listen to the Lord as we read this week. What is the Lord saying through each chapter?

About this Plan

This plan follows the prophecies about the Messiah and then the life of Jesus. During this advent season as MyLocal church, we want to look at the life of Jesus and his incredible message to humanity. We believe Jesus is the Messiah prophesied about in the Hebrew Bible: Emmanuel, 'God with us'. In this winter season we remember hope despite the circumstances.
