Peace Overcomes Anxiety and Conflict
Colossians 3:15-16
We live in a world that will never have true peace. Because all peace is false and temporary, it is not surprising that people desire peace. Everyone wants to enjoy peace, but none of them will succeed because they seek peace by trying to change the situation. True peace does not depend on the situation. The only way to obtain and experience true peace is by receiving the grace of Lord Jesus Christ.
Someone will experience true peace when he accepts Lord Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace. Jesus was born into the world (Isaiah 9:5). He has true peace. "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace" (John 16:33). You can't obtain true peace from anything and anyone outside Lord Jesus Christ.
Amazingly, true peace can cure the worries and anxieties of life. Life's worry and anxiety are like twins that seep into the mind, but the two cannot exist together with peace. Jesus' disciples were afraid, worried, and anxious when the storm hit them late. Lord Jesus said to them, "Where is your faith?" (Luke 8:23-25). Be still, don't be afraid. We must control our hearts and minds to deal with this situation. No circumstance will affect us when peace that surpasses all understanding guards our hearts and minds. Fears, anxieties, and worries will disappear, and we will be calm in all situations when we have this peace.
True peace can also treat hostility and anger in our lives. Do not keep your anger or commit sin when you are angry because you are giving the devil a chance when you are doing that. Control your anger with peace because anger will never do the right thing for you. We can control our anger when we have Lord Jesus Christ - who offers peace to the heart of mankind by His birth. Lord Jesus Christ gives us the strength and ability to control anger.
Reflection:
1. Have you had true peace from the Father? What do you do and feel about it?
2. Are you a peacemaker for others?
Practice: Be a peacemaker in a peaceful environment!
