Year of the Bible: Part Two of Twelve Намуна

Abram and Melchizedek.
At this time in history, Kings were often the head of state and the spiritual leader of their people. On his way back from rescuing his Nephew Lot from kidnappers, Abram meets the King of Sodom and the King of Salem, Melchizedek. Melchizedek brought food and wine, which he offered to Abram and afterward blessed him.
The blessing that Melchizedek spoke over Abram made it clear he knew Abram had defeated his enemies by the power of God. We don't know how, but Melchizedek also worshipped the same God Abram worshiped. The interaction is a foreshadowing of the way that Jesus would operate in a priestly role with His people.
Question to Ponder: How are Melchizedek and Jesus similar?
Prayer Focus: Take time to pray and thank God for having Jesus fulfill King and Priest's roles for you. His rule is perfect and salvation complete, and nothing can or needs to be added!
