Discover the Power of PrayerНамуна

The Lord was too busy not to pray. He had too much going on with the crowds pressing around Him and the people He needed to help not to take time to pray.
That goes against our grain, doesn’t it? We, in our busyness of life, tend to think that we do not have time to pray rather than we are too busy not to pray. Let’s look at some instances in the life of our Lord where He took time to pray despite everything that was going on around Him. Matthew 14:23 states, “And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.”
Jesus sent the multitudes away so He could pray. He was in the middle of ministry doing the job He had been called to do, and what did He do? He sent the crowd home so He could take time with His Heavenly Father. In other words, Jesus needed to get recharged. Although He had all the power in the universe because He was fully God just as He was fully man, at that moment, He was operating on His human resources, and He went to the Father for spiritual R & R (rest and relaxation).
I think all of us could use some spiritual R & R. We need it often. Not just twice a month or once a year. We need it daily, sometimes hourly, and some days we need it moment by moment. It is through prayer that we get the strength we need to minister to others. It is through prayer that we receive the energy to live an effective and vibrant Christian life.
We could also say that Jesus understood that prayer takes discipline. Perhaps you are thinking, “I don’t like to think of prayer as a discipline.” To be effective prayer warriors, we must emulate Jesus’ example and take time to pray.
Look at your schedule and decide which day in the following week is your busiest day. Determine to spend an extra ten minutes in prayer the night before or the morning of your busy day.
