Submit to Christ’s Authority in Your Marriage
One of the biggest fights Dino and I had while we were engaged was over our roles in our marriage. God designed me to be a strong, hardworking, driven woman. Qualities that Dino loves about me. On the other side, Dino is just as strong, hardworking, and driven. Two dominant people trying to join together as one. Our fight was about who was the bigger head honcho.
We both wanted to be the boss over one another, and ultimately we were both wrong. I believe nothing makes me more strong and empowered as a woman than the ability to submit to my husband. In doing so I’m submitting to Christ. Trusting Him fully and moving out of the way so He can fully work on Dino. It’s not only freeing (because I don’t want the responsibility of mothering my husband) but also it allows God to work mightily in our men.
God created men and women and their respective roles to complement one another. God has given us a threefold recipe for a healthy marriage: Men who lead with ultimate, selfless, and sacrificial love; women who submit to that leadership as unto Christ; and a mutual submission as co-laborers in glorifying God through Christ-centered unions. Today, wives, spend time asking the Spirit to soften your heart to exercise the faith required to submit to your husband as unto Christ. Husbands, ask the Spirit to convict and teach you to be a servant-leader your wife can peacefully support and follow in your lives together. Pray that God will have your mind focused on all the positive things about your spouse that you meditated on during day 2.
About this Plan

We’re Dino and Ashley Petrone, and we have a passion for healthy, God-centered marriages. We pray that by sharing our own experiences of confronting our failures, seeking after the future, and being intentional, we can encourage others by suggesting ways to move forward with a God-centered marriage.
