Be Still and Be Happy: Devotions for WomenНамуна

One Thing
We’re all guilty of allowing the world’s endless problems and responsibilities to divert our attention away from our actual purpose. We were created to spend time with our Creator, to love and worship him. Small or big, any issue that pulls us away from our only source of strength and peace must be kept in check, or else we jeopardize trading our souls for temporary accomplishments. Our ultimate goal is Christ, and all else follows after.
To keep from becoming ensnared in the myriad of pressing matters that beat against us daily and vie for every waking moment, we must prioritize our relationship with our Lord first. Sit with him daily. Soak in his words and his love. Let all be done out of gratitude for him and desire him above all else. He is your “one thing” needed.
Remind me daily, oh God, to sit at your feet and rest. The pressure of this life can be so heavy, but you restore the strength of the faithful. You lighten the load of your children, and you shoulder their burdens. Please, keep me from getting distracted as I look to you for love and purpose.
