Behold: Your Future AwaitsНамуна

I AM THE FIRST & I AM THE LAST
Isaiah 44:6 – I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God.
In the book of Isaiah, God is declaring who he is and who we are. Whilst reading Isaiah chapters 40 through to 44, I was in awe of just how BIG and yet how CLOSE to us God is! There are two things that I have noticed that He is very clear in.
Firstly, that HE is Lord. There is no other. He is the only saviour. He has no rival, he has no equal. It’s not like a movie where we are waiting to see which character wins. God has already won! Jesus defeated death!
Ephesians 4:5-6 – one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.
Secondly, that we are His. Isaiah 43:1 – But this is what the Lord says – he who created you, Jacob, who formed you, Israel: ‘Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
He made you, he knew you before you were formed in your mother’s womb. You are a daughter of God.
When I was a younger, my sister and I really wanted a dog. We would puppy sit every now and then. It was nice, I enjoyed the time with puppies... but when we finally got our own dog, it was a totally different ballgame! We got to name him, choose his collar and lead, walk him, feed him and spend endless time with him. To call him my dog – what a dream! I was proud, even if he was naughty or ran into the mud. He was my little guy. Us belonging to God is on a totally different scale! My example is one to smile at (if you’re a dog lover). The creator of heaven and earth is calling you His very own!
The Lord is very clear in writing that we are His, we belong to him. How beautiful that the creator of heaven and earth knows you better than you know yourself. This is something that I am in awe of. The King of kings, the Lord of lords, the first and last, the great I am – he is saying to you “you are mine”.
