The Grace of Giving
2 Corinthians 8:7, 9
“…see that you also excel in this grace of giving…For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.”
The grace of giving begins with the surrender of our lives to God. Just as Jesus offered himself to the will of his Father for the salvation of others, so too we have the privilege of laying down the wealth and positions we have received for the sake of God’s mission. Our resources when surrendered to God become expressions of his grace in the lives of others. Anything that we are unable to give away has the potential to control us. The grace of giving begins with our lives and then extends to all we have and all we are. The gospel carries this grace of giving at its very core. For those who share and live the gospel, the grace of giving becomes normal.
Jesus, thank you for your generosity to me in salvation. I pray for that same sacrificial generosity in what I give, and in where I invest my life, for your glory.
