Biola University's Center for Christianity, Culture & the Arts is pleased to share the annual Advent Project, a daily devotional series celebrating the beauty and meaning of the Advent season through art, music, poetry, prayer, Scripture, and written devotions. The project starts on the first day of Advent and continues through Epiphany. Our goal is to help individuals quiet their hearts and enter into a daily routine of worship and reflection during this meaningful but often hectic season. Our prayer is that the project will help ground you in the unsurpassable beauty, mystery, and miracle of the Word made flesh.

Sometimes we are warned not to believe everything we read. Other times we are warned not to believe everything we hear. With AI-generated images, we are learning not to believe everything we see. But we aren’t reminded nearly as often to question our own thought processes—to remember not to believe everything we think. In this short devotional, our goal is to help you learn to recognize distorted and harmful patterns of thinking in your own life, lean into Biblical wisdom to disrupt these patterns and equip and empower you to share these strategies with others.

Complacency and apathy often creep into our christian walk. As believers, we are meant to be passionate and full of faith. God’s relentless love is the life-blood of his mission. This love was most remarkably displayed in the culmination of his grand salvation plan: sending his very own Son to live and minister on earth, finally dying a sinner’s death on the cross, that we might be redeemed by our faith in him and raised with him in his resurrection. Such perfect love demands a response—we love because God first loved us.

Whether you seek to build up your faith or you desire to be encouraged, this is for you.  Life can throw challenges your way that leave you questioning your purpose, and wondering how to get back on track. I have personally experienced the healing and restoring power of God through His love letters. I pray that as you go through these love letters, you receive strength for the journey ahead.

As Christians, we are not immune to troubles in this world. In fact, John 16:33 promises they will come. If you are facing the storms of life right now, this devotional is for you. It is a reminder of the hope that gets us through life's storms. And if you aren't facing any struggles in this moment, it will give you the foundation that will help you through future trials.
