THIS IS MY SURRENDER DEVOTIONAL BY JOCK JAMES Have you ever found yourself reflecting on your own thoughts and attitudes and had the thought ‘I don’t really like what I see’? Maybe it’s just me but sometimes I take a look at myself with all my failings and shortcomings and think ‘I just want to be better’. I know there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ (Rom 8:1). We are free from all guilt and shame, but there is something in me that wants to reach for more, to run the race marked out for me, to be more like Jesus, but how do I do it? I was thinking about this and then my 5 year old daughter reminded me of the answer. She wanted to tell me what she had recently learnt about the Holy Spirit, her opening line really stood out to me ‘The Holy Spirit is basically your helper Dad’ she said confidently. And that is a truth we can so often forget. The Holy Spirit is working inside of us to take us from one degree of glory to another (2 Cor 3:18). He has promised to finish the good work that He has started in us (Phil 1:6), all we have to do is surrender ourselves to Him. I want to encourage you today to surrender yourself a fresh to God today. Allow the Holy Spirit to work inside you for His Glory. Pray and thank God for the great work He has started in you and that He will bring it to completion.
