Built by the Lord: God's Design for Family and Business Success From Psalm 127నమూనా

“What in the world am I doing?”
That’s the question I asked myself when coming home from work one night. I left the office that evening and was honestly disoriented, unsure of the time. As I passed by a bank with a clock out front, it showed me that it was 9:35 pm. Wait? What? It’s 9:35! Then reality flooded my mind: I left home that morning while the kids were still in bed, and when I would finally arrive home, they would be back in bed for the night. I missed out on another day with my family.
Something had to change.
The Lord is the one who builds, provides, and protects (Psalm 127:1). When we trust in Him, He gives us peace (verse 2). And this leads perfectly into the final part of the psalm, which shows us the blessings of posterity that await us when we get our priorities in order.
Psalm 127:3-5 (ESV) says, "Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children of one's youth. Blessed is the man who fills his quiver with them! He shall not be put to shame when he speaks with his enemies in the gate."
Our world has influenced many to view family, including marriage and children, as a burden and something that holds us back. But God says differently. The husband and father mentioned here in Psalm 127 is blessed and put into a position of power because of his family! It is possible—and even necessary—to strike a balance between family and work to achieve true success.
Family, starting with the marriage that leads to welcoming children into the home, is a blessing and a reward from God.
When we keep our priorities straight: God first, spouse second, children third, and everything else (including your business) after that, God will bless and reward that family. That blessing may not look like what you thought it would, and it may not come when you want, but He will bless those efforts.
When I had my “what am I doing?” moment, I realized my priorities were out of order. Work, money, and “success” were taking priority over my family. And that was negatively affecting my posterity.
Upon recognizing this, we made significant changes in our lives. We put a plan in place for me to leave my job, start a business, and get things back in order. Sitting here now, 12 years later, I don’t regret those changes one bit. Was it the best move financially and for my career? No. But during this time, I’ve been able to spend countless hours with my family, strengthening our marriage and building into the lives of my children. And that is reward enough.
So, what priorities do you have out of place? What boundaries do you need to put in place to help you keep those priorities where they belong? What influence do you want to have on your posterity?
Commit this to the Lord, and He will bless your efforts.

“Lord, help me to lean upon You for Your provision, protection, and peace. I trust You to guard and lead my posterity. Guide me, Lord, as I work, live, and love my family. In Jesus' name, Amen.”
