Make Time

Today is about making time for others.

Let's be intentional about it. Every person we meet is someone Jesus came and died for—we've never met an ordinary person. However, I confess that I can get so caught up in myself that I fail to notice other people.

Jesus gave us only two jobs: to love God and to love others (Mark 12:29-31). When something is important to us, we make time for it. Every person we meet is important to Jesus, so why aren't they important to me? As we try to go on mission with Jesus, we must prepare, because everything we want to do with or for him takes time.

After all, we do have a job to do, and that takes time.

Our goal today is to make that time. You may need to come to work a bit early or stay late. You may even need to get out of bed earlier to get to work early.

You may even need to do your job better so you have time to be interrupted. Our first obligation is to our employer, so get ahead in your work so you're available for God to use.

Often, God's opportunities look like unwelcome interruptions unless we're prepared. Any action you take that's beyond your job description is something Jesus can use to draw people to him. So today, get ahead and get ready to be interrupted. Put yourself in a position where you can be interrupted, and God will put you to work.

This is a calling. You've been called to your workplace today. Be intentional and be a blessing to others.

Action Prayer

Lord, today, may I relax and trust You. Help me be early and prioritize my interactions with others. Help me use my time to get ahead so I can be interrupted. May I not rush with people, but may I relax and invest in others because you died for them, too. Please use me today.

Amen.
