Day 3 – The Power of Delegation
"When you delegate with vision, you do not lose power, you multiply it." - Wendy Perez
Yesterday, we explored the strength and resonance found in acknowledging our limits and choosing the path of collaboration, however, there is an additional step (often more challenging), that turns awareness into strategy: delegation.
Delegating is an intentional act, born out of discernment and trust. It requires us not only to recognize what we should no longer do alone, but also to identify who has been equipped by God to help carry the load. Choosing to delegate leads us to ask: "Who has the skill and heart to carry the vision forward? Furthermore, how can I equip them to do it with excellence?"
The Bible, in Exodus, describes a pivotal moment in Moses’ leadership when delegation was a necessary action for him to take in order to succeed as a leader. The people of Israel—whom Moses led out of Egypt and toward the Promised Land—were many, their needs were endless, and Moses was exhausted. It was in this time in the wilderness when his father-in-law, Jethro, came and gave him wise counsel: “Represent the people before God, but select capable men who fear God, men of truth and integrity, and appoint them as officials over groups” (see Exodus 18:17–18 and 18:25–26, NIV).
Moses understood that the greatness of the mission required a mindset shift: letting go of control and delegating tasks to trusted individuals did not mean abandoning his responsibility—it meant multiplying the impact of his leadership.
Delegation is a tool for building trust, forming teams, and recognizing the gifts that God has placed in others. When we learn to delegate, we stop trying to control everything and start equipping each person to flourish in the assignment God has called them to do. Each of us has received a specific role, and only when we begin to collaborate and delegate do we realize our gifts were never meant to stand alone, but to complement one another. This is how a team's potential multiplies: not because everyone does everything, but because everyone brings their part.
The process of delegation will not always be smooth - at times, people will make mistakes - but persevering in delegation builds deep connections, and over time, transforms an apprentice into an assistant, an assistant into a partner, and a partner into a leader.
What if today was the day you stopped holding everything to yourself?
Reflect on this: What tasks are you still handling alone just because you fear that, if delegated, they will not be done “the way you want them to be done?”
In what area of your life could something greater begin to take shape if you allowed others in? Perhaps someone around you is just waiting for an invitation—someone gifted and ready to be activated, but unable to step in until you make room.
Prayer: Lord, thank You for every person You have placed beside me. Today, I choose not to carry the weight of my calling alone, but to share it with those You have equipped with specific gifts. Help me break free from the temptation to control everything. Give me wisdom to clearly and respectfully communicate the vision You have given me, and the humility to stay engaged in the process—even when delegation does not unfold the way I expected. Amen.

Alongside our strengths, skills, and gifts, there are also areas where we feel vulnerable, limited, or simply inadequate. This devotional will help encourage you on how to best manage your weaknesses and transform them into opportunities for growth.
