Deliverance of the Demon-Possessed Man
Jesus practiced what He taught. What does that mean exactly? Well, He taught in the synagogue with authority unlike the teachers of the law. Then He put it into practice by commanding an evil spirit out of a man. It’s amazing how the demon knew exactly what Jesus’ agenda was and called it out.
Did you catch that? It asked Jesus if He had come to destroy them. A huge part of Jesus’ ministry calling was to destroy the works of the devil. Jesus lived out His life’s purpose fully from end to end. He taught with authority and then exercised that authority to set people free.
If you have ever felt completely bogged down emotionally, mentally, spiritually and physically, unable to function and without clarity, you know how valuable it is to be freed from those invisible chains that seem to be holding you down. Jesus, the deliverer, has all power to set us free from anything that has us fettered and broken down. Being the Son of God, He had all authority over every power of darkness, and even today He is victorious over Satan. He didn’t keep this power to himself but delegated it to each of us who have accepted Christ as our Saviour.
As children of God and co-heirs with Christ, we have all authority in heaven and earth to trample on snakes and scorpions and over all the powers of hell. Isn’t that amazing? Yet so often we find ourselves feeling helpless and weak because we forget about the authority that Jesus handed to us when we accepted Him into our lives. This authority enables us to live victorious over the enemy's attempts to keep us locked in invisible but real cages of bondage to sin.
Do you practice all that Jesus taught?
Do you walk in the authority that he gave you as a child of God?
Are you living confined and broken down by the enemy?
It’s time to rise up in your God-given authority and trample over the enemy by the power of God that is in you by His Spirit.
