Stand Firm and Hold Fast

Paul encourages the Thessalonians to stand firm in their faith, and to hold on to the Word of God.
In our Christian faith, we come across many trials and situations, which can cause our faith to be shaken. It is during times like these that the only way we can strengthen ourselves and have hope, is by holding on to the promises of God. Paul, more than anyone, knew how crucial it was to be dependent on the Word of God. He was beaten, whipped, stoned, shipwrecked and persecuted. Yet his testimony speaks of his unshakeable trust in God. How could he trust God’s ways in spite of all these things? It was because he encouraged and comforted himself by holding on to God’s Word. The dictionary defines ‘stand firm’ as, ‘to hold one’s ground or offer resistance to somebody or something’. We are instructed to hold on to the Word of God and resist the enemy!
It is the house that is built on the rock that remains steadfast when the storms of life hit us. Jesus, our rock, was actually the Word of God, manifested in the flesh. Unless we strengthen ourselves in His Word and hold firm to our faith, we will not be able to see the spiritual reality, but will have a limited vision of God. So, let us hold fast to the living Word and see it work in our lives.

Prayer
Father, I thank You for Your Word and pray that even as I hold fast to my confession of faith, I will see Your Word manifesting in my life. Amen.
