Would you rather have a book of instructions or someone who walks you through the steps? If we’re honest, most of us might prefer an instruction manual to a mentor—something to outline what we need to complete and show us how to get the best results. Of course, this seems to be the easiest option, but sometimes the result doesn’t matter as much as the process it takes to get there.

In today’s passage, we can see that the Bible is for teaching, correcting, and training — much like a manual even though it contains ancient poetry, letters, wild stories, and life-changing news. These words are alive and continue to transform us 2,000 years later. Living things don’t just tell us what to do. They offer examples and show us. The Bible isn’t just a historical document. It shows us who God is and teaches us who we can be once we know more about God.

How can you see the Bible as more than a book of stories and suggestions, one full of examples of living life to the fullest?
