Suffering for any reason is not fun. But suffering for doing the right thing is even worse! The pain of your circumstances is compounded by the outrage that you’ve done nothing wrong; it’s salt in your wounds. In those moments, trusting God is immensely difficult – so how can we do it?
LIFE APPLICATION QUESTIONS
- Does suffering mean that God can’t be trusted, or that He doesn’t love you? Challenge that logic with the thought that actually, God demonstrates His love for you in the midst of your suffering.
- Reflect again on Peter’s words in 1 Peter 2:23 as he shares Jesus’ example of how to endure suffering. What jumps out at you?
- Do you allow your external circumstances to affect how much you trust in God’s goodness? In what ways?
- Ask God to press this lesson on your heart today and in the coming days, so that you can know His heart – and be stronger and more resilient in your faith when trials come your way.
