WHAT MUST I DO?

When approaching God, and in particular, the means by which we can enter into eternal life, we often ask, ‘What must I do?’ This was also the question that the young man asked Jesus. He wanted to know what tasks to complete so that he could enter into eternal life.

This is the same for us – it is absolutely impossible for us to fulfill the righteous requirements of the law, so as to enter into eternal life. This is something that we just cannot do. What is impossible for man is possible with God.

Inheriting eternal life is not about what we do, it’s about what has been done. Jesus fulfilled all the requirements of the law on our behalf. When He breathed His last breath, He declared ‘It is finished’, it has all been done! We need to hold onto the assurance that inheriting eternal life is about the completed atoning work of our Savior, for Jesus has done it all.

PRAYER
Heavenly Father, thank You so much for our Lord Jesus. Thank You that He has now made the impossible possible, by providing a way for me to inherit eternal life. Help me to not put confidence in my good works and achievements, but to trust entirely in the completed saving work of Jesus on my behalf.
