Biola University's Center for Christianity, Culture & the Arts is pleased to share the annual Advent Project, a daily devotional series celebrating the beauty and meaning of the Advent season through art, music, poetry, prayer, Scripture, and written devotions. The project starts on the first day of Advent and continues through Epiphany. Our goal is to help individuals quiet their hearts and enter into a daily routine of worship and reflection during this meaningful but often hectic season. Our prayer is that the project will help ground you in the unsurpassable beauty, mystery, and miracle of the Word made flesh.

The Advent Project: Week 1

St. Francis once prayed all night, “God, who are you and who am I?” In many ways the Incarnation is God’s answer to that question and the focus of these reflections. The Incarnation is love with skin on it. It is God’s “yes” to a world that has long since forgotten its belovedness, its blessedness. As you celebrate the Incarnation during this advent season, may you know your own blessedness.

Advent, the season of looking towards the most memorable birthday, is such an exciting time. And hidden within the Christmas story are a multitude of treasures, so many examples of God’s great love and involvement with us.  In this Mini BigB Advent edition film resource, Brian (the puppet) and Dave generally have a lot of fun but also provide a little something for us to ponder in this busy season.  This is a great resource for 6-11 year old children and for anyone with a childish sense of humour.

An Advent journey of faith and strength for Christian military women as we look to Isaiah's prophecy of the coming Savior. We have access to the Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. In preparation for the celebration of Jesus’ birth, we will examine how Jesus fulfilled each of the names Isaiah prophesied.
