Christmas Plans

Christmas is a time when we as believers celebrate God’s heart to write himself into our story. Prior to Jesus, we had no real picture of God’s love. All we had to know him by was through stories of old and commandments written into law. But only in Jesus was a pathway created whereby we could walk in intimacy with the Father again. Only in Jesus was the veil torn, allowing God’s manifest presence into the earth. We owe all that we have to Jesus. We owe all that we have to Christmas.

Christmas is filled with wonder. Still, its promise can be lost in must-do lists, preparing for celebrations when provisions seem slim, or the advent of sometimes-messy family relationships. Let's invite the Holy Spirit to reveal God’s gifts for us by Unwrapping Christmas refreshments from Luke's Gospel. Realizing that in this lifetime, we will only begin to scratch the surface of who Jesus is and what He has done.

Join me for a three day devotional as we uncover the true meaning of Christmas. What things do you most look forward to and love about Christmas? It probably has something to do with making new memories and taking time to enjoy old ones, right? The decorations, the traditions, the celebrations with family and friends—it’s a special time of year and there’s nothing else like it. We roll our eyes when stores begin marketing the holiday months in advance, but it’s hard to blame them. Christmas is an entirely unique season, and even though we sometimes don’t want it to come at us too early, many of us can admit we also don’t want it to end. We’d rather hold on to Christmas than let it go, and it’s important to consider why.
