Mordecai’s Fame
1King Ahasuerus imposed a tax throughout the land # 10:1 Est 1:1; 8:9 even to the farthest shores. # 10:1 Or imposed forced labor on the land and the coasts of the sea,# 10:1 Is 11:11; 24:15 2All of his powerful and magnificent accomplishments # 10:2 Est 1:4 and the detailed account of Mordecai’s great rank with which the king had honored him, # 10:2 Est 8:15 have they not been written in the Book of the Historical Events of the Kings of Media and Persia? # 10:2 Est 2:23; 6:1–2 3Mordecai the Jew was second only to King Ahasuerus. # 10:3 Gn 41:40–43; 2Ch 28:7; Est 8:15; Dn 5:7 He was famous among the Jews and highly esteemed by many of his relatives. # 10:3 Est 8:16–17 He continued to pursue prosperity for his people and to speak for the well-being of all his descendants. # 10:3 Neh 2:10
