Made New: Rewriting the Story of Rejection Through God's Truth

ZUVA 7 REMAZUVA 8

Day 7: A Firm Foundation

Today, I want you to carry this truth with you: God loves you so deeply that He sent His one and only Son to die on the cross for your transgressions. That kind of love isn’t surface-level; it’s foundational, transformational, and deeply personal.

There was a season in my life when it felt like God was tearing me down, pruning areas I had held onto tightly. As painful as it was, I chose not to resist it. Instead, I leaned into the discomfort and asked God daily to finish what He started in me.

With the help of my therapist, I began to understand what God was doing. He wasn’t tearing me down to break me, He was clearing out what couldn’t remain so He could rebuild me stronger and more whole. He was repairing the cracks in my foundation. I came to realize that many of the thoughts and feelings of rejection I had been wrestling with were just the branches. But what I really needed to deal with were the roots. My therapist said something that has stayed with me: “It’s time to dig up those roots.”

He assigned me a powerful piece of homework: to reflect on Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. This psychological theory outlines human needs in five levels, from basic physiological needs to self-actualization. He encouraged me to return to my earliest memories of my life and identify where those basic needs weren’t met.

Maybe for you, it was a parent who didn’t know how to love you well. Maybe it was a home that didn’t feel safe, where you had to survive rather than rest. These are the roots. And if we’ve built the rest of our lives on top of a broken foundation, then it’s time to stop patching the cracks and start rebuilding with God.

As you move forward, remember this: healing is holy work. Growth is rarely easy, but it is always worth it. You are not alone in this process; God is with you in every tear, every prayer, and every breakthrough. You are being rebuilt on a foundation that cannot be shaken. Let His love be your anchor, and let His truth confront and correct every lie that’s tried to convince you otherwise. May His grace carry you through every moment of doubt and every step toward wholeness.

You are not broken beyond repair. You are being beautifully restored. In His mercy, God tears down the lies we’ve believed and replaces them with His truth. He rebuilds us, not on the shaky ground of past pain, but on the solid rock of His love, grace, and divine purpose. Let God dig deep. Let Him rebuild. You are worth the healing.

Reflection Questions:

•Where have you tried to address the lack of your basic needs not being met?

•What lies have taken root in your life, and what truths does God want to plant instead?

Prayer:

Father God, thank you for the uncomfortable seasons that require me to dig up the roots of bad trees in my life. Lord, I ask you for your gentle touch in these seasons. I ask you to meet me in these moments and allow me to lean on you for refuge. Father, I boldly ask you to finish what you have started. I trust you. I love you. In your name I pray, Amen.
