Our identity is 'Child of God'
What a beautiful truth: we are called ‘children of God’ (NIV). Not by merit, or effort, but by the sheer undeserved love of God. This isn’t a title we earn – it’s a gift given freely through Jesus Christ. This love is unlike any the world offers. It’s pure and all grace. He came to us and made us His dwelling place. To be a child of God is to be seen, known and cherished by the One who created all things. The full understanding and knowing of this love, however, can only revealed through a relationship with Jesus. Without knowing Christ, this kind of love remains foreign, and it’s no wonder the world does not understand it.
The wonderful news is, for those who are in relationship with Christ, that this love becomes the very foundation of our identity. We are not defined by our past, our failures, or even our gifts and talents. We are defined by God’s love. Our identity is ‘child of God’. Today, let that truth sink deep into your heart. Say it now. ‘I’m a child of God. I’m loved by the creator of the universe.’ Meditate on this and let it be the reality of your life in Christ. You are known. You are chosen. You are His.

“This Christmas season let’s remember that God’s promises are not like ours – fragile and sometimes forgotten – but are firm, fulfilled and forever. In every wrapped gift, flickering Christmas tree light and sung carol, may we see a reflection of the ultimate gift: Jesus, the righteous branch – our everlasting hope.” (The Promise of a Righteous Branch – Robbie Parkin)
