Don't Sway in the Delayනියැදිය

Jesus Grieves With Us
Jesus stood outside Lazarus’ tomb, knowing exactly what He was about to do. He had the power to raise the dead. He knew the miracle that was moments away. Yet Scripture records two profound words: “Jesus wept” (John 11:35).
Why would Jesus cry when He knew the happy ending? Because He was teaching us something crucial about grief and new life.
First, it’s okay to grieve.
In fact, it’s one of the godliest responses to loss. Jesus wept even though He knew the Father had a bigger plan. Mourning isn’t a lack of faith or spiritual weakness. Jesus didn’t stuff His emotions down or tell people they were weak for crying. He showed us that grief is good, healthy, and important.
When we don’t process our pain and losses properly, we get stuck in our souls, in our relationship with God, and with others. Grief allows our hearts, minds, and bodies to process pain and reintegrate in a healthy way.
Second, grieving helps us empathize with others.
When Jesus wept with Mary and Martha, the watching crowd said, “See how he loved him!” (John 11:36). His tears weren’t weakness, they were love in action. Jesus didn’t rush to the miracle. He stopped, felt their pain, and cried with them.
Paul tells us to “mourn with those who mourn” (Romans 12:15). That’s empathy. When you’ve walked through your own grief, you’re better equipped to help others through theirs.
Third, Jesus brings new life out of our pain.
Before raising Lazarus, Jesus declared, “I am the resurrection and the life” (John 11:25). Not “I will perform a resurrection.” He is resurrection.
At the core of who He is, Jesus brings dead things back to life.
After weeping with the sisters, Jesus called out, “Lazarus, come forth!” And the dead man walked out, still wrapped in grave clothes. Jesus commanded others to “Take off the grave clothes and let him go” (John 11:44).
What grave clothes are you still wearing? What grief is God asking you to bring to Him today so He can speak resurrection?
Your grief isn’t the end of the story. It’s the pathway to new life. Jesus sees you, weeps with you, and stands ready to speak resurrection over what seems dead.
Pray
Jesus, thank You for showing me it’s okay to grieve. Help me process my pain in healthy ways and extend empathy to others in theirs. Speak resurrection over the dead places in my life. Amen.
